Intertextuality

Rather than characterize intertextuality in a manner as you might find in a dictionary; and think of the term as a convoluted repetition of imagery across a work of art or an elaborate allusion, let's escape from these nuances. Intertextuality becomes more simple once treating literature and art as a conversation with a whole range of participants who each offer their own, unique perspectives while also adding to previous conversations. Because artists continue producing new works, thankfully, it is common for works to reference these past “conversations” and add their own voice(s) into the talkative mixture.
